Passport Issues

 
Application guidelines for all E-passport applicants
 
  . To apply for a Nigerian passport, please visit: www.immigration.gov.ng,
 
  . Click on “apply online” and then on “e-passport application form”; select “Standard Passport”., select “Germany” as the country of procession and Log in through a google or yahoo email address
 
  . Fill the forms, submit online and print out
 
  . Proceed to payment and pay the passport fee of 65 Dollars with your Visa card; Payment must be made online. Cash payment or bank transfers are not acceptable, please.
 
  . Print out confirmation of payment and acknowledgement slip.
 
  . Payments made in lieu of application for new E-Standard passports are non-refundable.
 

Passport Guarantor Form
 

·         All passport applicants must download the passport guarantor form from the same website as above, print the two pages of the guarantor form and get the guarantor’s form completed by a guarantor who must be an adult Nigerian
 
(i) Attach a passport photograph of the guarantor in the provided column on page 1
 
(ii) Attach a copy of the data page of the guarantor’s Nigerian passport to the duly completed and signed guarantor form
 
  . Proof of the payment of administrative charges into the Deutsche Bank account of the Nigerian Embassy (40 Euros for children and also for adults who will bring along the original copies of their old passports and 200 Euros for those coming without the original copies of their old passports).
 
  . Two passport photographs
 
  . Photocopy of birth certificate or statutory declaration of age
 
  . Photocopies of page 1, data page and visa page on the old passport. If the visa is on a separate card, please photocopy the front and back pages of the card
 

 
Additional  Requirements for Children under 18 Years

  · Letter of consent written and signed by the biological father and the biological mother with copies of the data pages of their international passports

Additional Requirement in a case of loss of Machine Readable (old) Passport
  
  . A police report

Additional Requirement for Asylum Seekers without Passport

  . Certificate of origin/identification (This is issued by the respective local government offices in Nigeria).

Additional Requirements for non-residents (i.e. those who are not officially resident in Germany)

  · A letter of introduction from the Nigerian Embassy in their country of residence. If there is no Embassy of Nigeria in that country, they should get the letter from the Nigeria Embassy covering that country (e.g. The Nigerian Embassy in Sweden currently covers most of the Scandinavian countries)

Reissue of expiring or expired E-passports
 
For the reissue of your expiring E-passport, please do the following:

  . Write a formal application letter addressed to the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters Abuja, through the Nigerian Embassy Berlin, Germany

  . Print out and sign the letter

  . Scan the letter back to your computer

  . Scan the data page of your E-passport

  . Send both the letter and the data page of your E-passport to the following email address:
immigration@nigeriaembassygermany.org

Your application will be sent to the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters in Abuja for approval and the Embassy will contact you to give you an appointment as soon as the approval is received. It would therefore be necessary to indicate your full contact data such as your land and mobile phone numbers and e-mail address in the application letter.

When your application is approved, you will be required to go through the above guidelines on E-passport application procedures and come with the indicated documents on your appointment date.

 

Change of name

A married woman who desires to acquire her husband’s surname should apply for a reissue of their E-passports with the new name, 6 months to the expiry date. The following documents are to be scanned and sent to the indicated email address:

  . An application letter for reissue with a change of data written and signed by the applicant
  . Copy of the data page of the expiring E-passport
  . Copy of marriage certificate
  . Copy of Court affidavit on change of name
  . Copy of a newspaper publication on the change of name, in a Nigerian national newspaper

 

Refund of Payments

The Embassy does not refund any payment made out of error. All applicants are therefore advised to get adequate information on the right method of payment and amount to be paid for the desired service before making any payment, please.

Please note: We do not undertake renewal of old passports or endorsement of children in the E-passport, please
